Mid-Year Comments – Edits and Corrections

As we are about halfway through the series it seems like a good time to do some house-keeping. It is not my intention to change the style, structure or wording of the prior blog posts, but there are a few small changes that need to be made.

Firstly, the format of the blogs changed toward the end of Part 1. Earlier posts have now been refurbished so that the style is consistent throughout. Two main changes are that earlier posts had links that were underlined and these have been removed, and that there is now a line space separating the end of the post and the “posted in US Politics” line.

Secondly, there were a number of claims that were not backed up with references. In some cases I have continued to leave these out, mostly because I make the same claim in other blog posts where they are backed up with references there. For the most part, however, claims are now connected with a link that supports the claim.

Additionally, earlier blogs refer to posts that will be made a a future date.  In those cases where a blog that has been referred to has now been published I have added the link to it. Sometimes a claim has also been linked to a later blog post.

Thirdly, I have made some claims that have been factually untrue. These typically refer to claims that I recall hearing but have been unable to identify a source for them, but also there are comments that are simply incorrect. For example, in my post from 22 January 2018 I stated that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz became the DNC leader after Howard Dean. This is not correct; Tim Kaine was DNC chair from 2009 – 2011. In another post I claimed that Abraham Lincoln founded the Republican Party when in reality he was one of many individuals who assisted in its creation.

Finally, a few minor spelling and grammatical errors have been found and corrected.

At the time of publishing of this post, I am about halfway through this minor editing process and will complete it over the next couple of days. These will be complete in time for the next post, which beginning with Part 5, next Monday. The regular posts will commence thereafter.

Thank you for joining me on this journey which is likely continue into early 2019. I hope that it has been of value to you.
